Find out what's new for 2010

The city of Calgary has released the dates for this year's festivals and Carifest will be back at Shaw Millenium Park on Sat. June 12th 2010.  Here are the scheduled events for Carifest 2010:

1) This year starts with the return of the Caribbean Gospel Concert on Sat. June 5th 2010

2) We introduce the Friday night Gala on June 11th 2010; a night of Caribbean performance and competition.

3) Outdoor festival and market at Shaw Millenium Park Saturday June 12th 2010.  Once again FREE to the public.

2009's AGM/social was held on Sunday November 1st at the Antigua Cultural Hall from 3pm-7pm. First was unveiled the plans for 2010 (slideshow) followed by free refreshements and music. Thank you to all who attended and to those who became active members of the C.C.C. We will continue to grow the council and keep you informed as new developments arise.

Membership Card

The CCC is proud to announce that members joining the community will be presented with their own membership-benefits card. The "CariCard" will entitle the holder to discounts at various Caribbean merchants through out Calgary. This is just one of the new additions added since 2010.

Message from the Council President

On behalf of the Council, I would like to thank all the sponsors, vendors, patrons, (mother nature) and of course our volunteers for making Carifest 2009 a total success.

The day was extremely well attended and we see a very bright future ahead for the re-growth of the festival.

The countdown is on!

The final touches are coming together as we are now days away from Carifest 2009. Remember, its all free! Let's keep our fingers crossed for the weather

Festival News

The parade up 8th Ave has been postponed for this year but we will be incorporating Costume and dance in this year's festivities; and yes......we are looking into possibly changing the date in the future
This year we are also pleased to take Carifest back to its roots, as admission to the outdoor festival will once again be FREE to the public.

Festival Volunteers

We are looking for the right individuals to volunteer at this year's Carifest. Qualifications are:

  • Energetic individual who loves working with the public

  • Dependable

  • No experience required

  • Loves good music and food

  • Is willing to have a good time while they work

Only qualified individuals need apply.

Youth Festival

Open from 11:00 am - 6:30pm

Bring the kids over to our Youth Festival to enjoy their time at the crafts tent and help create a mural; get their face painted, collect a balloon participate in some fun games and where they can win prizes.
Enjoy the giant obstacle course; Participate in a limbo competition and other fun games.

Learn to play a traditional Caribbean game of dominos with over sized domino blocks and many more fun activities.






Alison Hinds, Nadia Batson,Tallpree Live!

Soca sensations Alison Hinds from Barbados, Nadia Batson from T&T and Tallpree from Grenada will all be gracing the Carifest Main stage for 2010! As part of the outdoor festivities they will be performing alongside other Caribbean artists for FREE at Shaw Millenium Park. They will also headline the official afterparty at the Chinese Cultural Centre later that evening. Tickets for the afterparty on sale at your favourite Caribbean outlets.
